Welcome to my online journal of my time here in Africa. It started awhile back as I worked on raising the support to go Africa and now I am here. I will be updating it with storeis, pictures, praises and prayer requests as often as I can. Thanks for checking it out!

I just got back from being gone for almost two weeks. I think the youth were really glad that I was back...but glad it was me or that I was able to cook...? Ha ha!

Pretzels...
Here in our little town in Namibia, there isn't so much entertainment or anything to do at all really so we make up things to do. This Sunday I decided to make pretzels. I have to also point out that there is very little in the way of convience. When we have pizza, I have to make the dough. If we want mexican, I have to make the tortillas. All by scratch. It is actually fun, I enjoy it. So I tried my hand at pretzels and they actually came out really well. Check it out!

Divorce...
I know this picture is really bad but this is Peter carrying a suitcase. Last week he came over with his twin sister Suama with this suitcase. He came into the house, set it down, looked at me seriously and said, "Jessica, we are getting a divorce!" This is what I put up with every day! Peter is a kick in the pants. He is over here all the time, eating whatever he can get his hands on and doing what he can to drive me crazy. It is quite common to see me chasing him around the house and yard with a wooden spoon or stopping him from taking whatever food he can get his hands on. I don't know what I will do without Peter around every day to make me laugh or drive me nuts!

South African Visitors
A couple of weeks ago, some college kids from a college in South Africa came down on a short term mission trip to our school. They spent several nights speaking at our church and also spent the morning at our school. It was really great for the kids. Check out the pictures below.
(first photo) - A drama representing the lure of the world and the sanctuary we find in Christ.
(second photo) - One of the visitors showing some affection to one of the school kids.
(third photo) - Two of the visitors feeding the school kids at the daily soup kitchen at school.
(fourth and fifth picture) - Three of the visitors came and shared with my grade 7 class. It was great because the period before that, I was able to share the gospel message with my class and then these guys sort of came and encouraged and followed up. The class really enjoyed it.
(sixth picture) - Some of my grade 7 boys watching the drama.
(seventh picture) - A drama put on by the visitors showing the love and protection of Christ.
(eighth, ninth and tenth pictures) - The whole school was there to watch the program put on by the visitors. They really enjoyed it and were so quiet, I was quite amazed.

Ndafa!
Another one of my special kiddos! This is Ndafa, the niece of my two boys, Josh and Peter. Since I have been here, both her parents have passed away. When I first met her, she was scared of me and wouldn't let me touch her. Now, she loves spending time with me. At church every Sunday, I hold her while we sing and she sits on my lap during the service. She knows my name and will answer me when I greet her in her language. Josh takes care of our yard here at the house and twice a week she comes up with him in the morning. She is an absolute doll. Suama, one of our youth girls and her aunt, has taught her a special handshake and how to walk like a "model." It is so cute!

African Life!
Since washing clothes is not my favorite activity but it has to be done. We do have a washing machine but it doesn't work very well so this is the alternative. Usually some of my youth kids help me out but this day I am on my own. I am getting pretty good at it!
